ADDICTION IS A DISEASE--NOT A MORAL FAILING
Family members who accept that addiction is a disease are better able
to let go of the inevitable anger, shame and blame that comes with the territory.
Their loved one is not doing it "to" them, but rather the nature of this brain disease makes it impossible for them not to break promises, lie, cheat, steal and hurt those whom they love the most, UNTIL they stop their drug or alcohol use and effectively treat their disease.
Here is the place where we reach out to one another
and share our stories, our successes, our setbacks, our fears and our constant, constant worry.
